About CAPE

Mission: Innovate. Validate. Disseminate.

Neonatal simulationThe Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education (CAPE) prepares physicians, nurses and allied health care professionals to successfully manage unpredictable medical emergencies through training experiences that pose no risk to human life. Using state-of-the-art technology, CAPE immerses medical teams in intense, dynamic and complex scenarios to acquire and practice the cognitive, technical and behavioral skills necessary to provide optimal care for mothers, babies and children.

CAPE is affiliated with the Stanford University School of Medicine and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, a hospital devoted to the care of children and expectant mothers. CAPE’s ability to provide highly realistic training is greatly enhanced by its close connection with these organizations and their shared commitment to advanced training and patient care. Many of the health care professionals who teach at CAPE also practice at Packard Children’s Hospital and serve on the faculty of the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Programs

CAPE programs train health care professionals at all levels of experience in the cognitive, technical and behavioral skills necessary to deliver optimal care to children and pregnant women.

Research

As a leader in simulation-based training, CAPE contributes to the field of fetal, neonatal, pediatric and obstetric simulation. CAPE functions as a human performance research laboratory where multiple avenues of investigation are explored.
