CAPE Research
The Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education (CAPE) functions not only as a training center, but also as a human performance research laboratory. CAPE research focuses on the development of:
- Simulation- and virtual reality-based curricula
- Performance assessment tools for trainees and instructors
- Debriefing guidelines
- Creation of novel technologies to simulate human fetal, neonatal, pediatric and obstetric anatomy and physiology
- Assessment of the effect of simulation-based training on human performance in high-risk domains and patient safety
- Incorporation of simulation-based training into hospital culture
- Financial comparison of simulation-based and traditional training
- Integration of simulation-based methodologies into NRP and ACLS
